The Oakley story : Interesting facts about Oakley

It is a California based company started by James Jannard in the year 1975. He also founded digital cinematographic company under the name Red digital cinema.



 Oakley was named after Jim's English setter breed of dog, Oakley Anne being the name.



Oakley started its business with what he called "The Oakley Grip" which was sold in the back of his car at Motocross events


This grip was an innovational product at that time, it gained its popularity from the type of material used in the making of the grip. Even today the same material is being used to make the earsocks and the nosegrips for the Oakley branded glasses.

Oakley even entered into various segments number plates, gloves, grips, elbow guards, chin guards, and goggles for the BMX and motocross communities.

"Unobtainium" is the first innovative material patented by Oakley. It ensures maximum comfort by increasing grip with perspiration and keeping the frame in place without slipping.

Plutonite is another material patented by Oakley used to make the lenses to ensure the maximum protection and visual excellence.

The Oakley group was later sold out to Luxxottica in the year 2017.


Oakley has also built a "Golf Hovercraft", which was created for marketing purposes in partnership with the professional golfer, Bubba Watson. This Hovercraft is supposedly be used on any terrain even on sand and water.


They even launched an innovative, interactive smart eyewear named Oakley Radar Pace developed in collaboration with Intel. It features a voice activated, real time personal coaching system designed for atheletes and sports personalities.

McVities: Edible, Lickable Wallpaper in Elevator

 It's obvious that people in elevator has nothing to do except think about the movement and feel nauseous.
